San Juan National Forest announces recreation updates

The San Juan National Forest has released recreation updates and announced a delayed opening of McPhee Boat Ramp to minimize the impact and spread of COVID-19.

The opening of the McPhee Boat Ramp on the Dolores Ranger District is delayed to April 30 and restroom facilities at all developed trailheads will remain closed.

Trails and undeveloped trailheads remain open to public use and will be monitored to ensure alignment with COVID-19 guidance from federal, state and local authorities.

Given the demonstrated risk of exposure to coronavirus from large, concentrated gatherings of people, the San Juan National Forest is temporarily discouraging continued recreational use on the national forest.

All offices on the San Juan National Forest are conducting business and providing services virtually, as well as continuing field patrols.
