San Juan Regional Medical Center announces Community Health Needs Assessment results

San Juan Regional Medical Center has released its list of the most critical health needs as perceived by the residents of San Juan County, New Mexico.

As part of the hospital’s strategic planning process, the Community Health Needs Assessment is conducted every three years with input and perspectives from community stakeholders to assure community needs are being met.

The 2020 Community Health Needs Assessment identified these areas of need: diabetes, mental health, substance abuse, obesity and access to care.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted a disproportionate impact on local Native American populations. Other at-risk populations were also severely affected.

A task force has been created to develop actionable steps to address these local health disparities and improve the health and well-being of the community.
