To improve security for patients and staff members, San Juan Regional Medical Center will close the main entrance overnights from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends.
Anyone visiting patients after hours can enter the hospital through the emergency department entrance where a security guard is staffed overnight. Visitors will still be able to exit through the main entrance doors during the overnight hours; they just won’t be able to re-enter the building through the main doors.
Keeping the main entrance closed after-hours improves security for patients and staff members and gives patients time to focus on sleep during designated quiet hours, an important part of the healing process.
The main entrance closure also helps security officers improve their responses overnight and allows staff members to focus on their patients.
