San Juan Regional Medical Center earns national recognition for promoting organ, eye and tissue donation

San Juan Regional Medical Center has been recognized among a select group of hospitals nationwide for its efforts to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registrations across the state through the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Organ Donation Campaign.

This national initiative unites the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration and the organ donation community with workplaces across the nation in spreading the word about the importance of donation.

San Juan Regional Medical Center earned gold level recognition for the 2019 campaign. Overall, nine New Mexico hospitals were recognized through the campaign, which included more than 1,490 organizations.

To help increase the number of potential donors on New Mexico’s donor registry, San Juan Regional Medical Center includes donation education information in all new employee orientations, conducts presentations at ICU meetings, participates in Donate Life Month activities, promotes organ donation through social media and shares important information about organ donation through partnerships with local media.
