San Juan Regional Medical Center will resume the Childbirth Preparation Series classes in an online format Oct. 6. They will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in October.
Topics will include comfort measures, breathing, relaxation, the stages and phases of labor, support person skills, medical interventions in labor, the first few weeks at home and postpartum care. Emphasis is placed on having a healthy pregnancy, understanding the physical and emotional challenges of labor and delivery and getting to know other pregnant women and families.
Classes will be held virtually via Zoom to limit in-person contact and comply with social-distancing guidelines. They are offered free of charge as a benefit to expecting parents. Classes will be taught by Alicia Dicker, childbirth educator at SJRMC.
