San Juan Regional Medical Center will hold the next series of online childbirth preparation classes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Tuesday and running through Dec. 17. The classes, offered through the Childbirth Center, are free to expecting parents.
The series invites moms and their families to learn the basics of a healthy pregnancy and birth, what to expect once the baby is born, newborn basics and more. Topics covered include comfort measures, breathing, relaxation, the stages and phases of labor, support person skills, medical interventions in labor, the first few weeks at home and postpartum care. Emphasis is placed on having a healthy pregnancy, understanding the physical and emotional challenges of labor and delivery and getting to know other pregnant women and families.
