Local filmmakers, Santa Fe Film Institute wants to help you get motivated to get your film project finished.
The Institute has supported filmmaking in New Mexico for more than a decade, providing educational programming, community outreach initiatives and film-focused events, said a news release last week announcing a new Filmmaker Granting Program. The program wants to help to cultivate filmmaking not only in New Mexico, but in Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas as well.
The application process opened May 1, and, according to the release, the program “supports local and regional filmmakers, as well as cast and crew, and other industry members, helping to ensure the completion and success of film projects.”
Filmmakers in Arizona, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas are eligible to apply for up to $2,000, while New Mexico residents may apply for up to $2,500. Eligible projects include those of any runtime, including films, scripts and treatments that are in the development stage, in-progress, in pre-production, in production and in post-production.
The application deadline is July 26, and SFFI will award multiple grants in the program’s first cycle, for a total of $5,000 to be announced in November, the release said.
And, along with the program, SFFI will also hold its 13th annual Santa Fe Independent Film Festival this fall – Oct. 13 to 17.
