SANTA FE – A Santa Fe high school counselor accused of sharing racist messages on social media is back at work.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reported Tuesday that Stephanie Sheldon has resumed her job with Santa Fe High School after being placed on paid leave more than a month ago.
“Appropriate actions were taken, and she has returned to work,” said David Carl, Santa Fe Public Schools spokesman. “I can’t comment any further on this specific personnel matter.”
Sheldon did not respond to the newspaper’s requests seeking comment.
Steven Taytelbaum of Philadelphia publicly decried Facebook posts by Sheldon during an online school board meeting in June.
In reference to protests over the May 25 death of George Floyd, Sheldon posted images and comments on Taytelbaum’s Facebook page.
In one post, Sheldon shared an image of a helicopter with a giant bucket of fried chicken with the caption “On my way to save Minneapolis.” She also left a comment likening protesters and looters to “a bunch of animals.”
