Join Santa, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies in Buckley Park
Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus lead the lighting of Durango’s community Christmas tree in Buckley Park in 2010. Santa and Mrs. Claus will again lead a procession down Main Avenue on Friday for the tree lighting. Residents who wish to attend should gather at 5:45 p.m. near First National Bank at Main Avenue and Ninth Street.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will help ring in the holidays Friday during the annual caroling procession and lighting of the community Christmas tree in Buckley Park.

Residents will gather near First National Bank near Main Avenue and Ninth Street at 5:45 p.m. ahead of the procession.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance promptly at 6 p.m., said Tim Walsworth with the Business Improvement District.

The first 1,000 kids will receive a free glow stick to carry while caroling on the way to Buckley Park.

The tree lighting will happen around 6:30 p.m., and it will be followed by free hot chocolate and cookies.

Santa will be available for free photos from about 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. But families must bring their own camera.
