School districts to hold board elections

Eight candidates in Ignacio, four in Bayfield

Both the Bayfield and Ignacio School Districts have enough school board candidates to hold elections this fall. Three seats are up for election in each district.

In Ignacio, administrative secretary Janet Reinhardt said this is the first time in her 12 years with the district that there have been enough candidates to hold an election. And there are a lot. Incumbent Agnes Sanchez is seeking re-election. Also runnng are former teachers Doug Little and Cindy Dale, along with Kelly McCaw, Germaine Ewing, Jay Dee Brunson, Michael Montoya, and Yvonne Conley-Chapman. Board president Toby Roderick and board member Troy Webb are term-limited.

In Bayfield, incumbents Carol Blatnick and Janie Hoover are seeking re-election. Also running are Mike Foutz and Debbie Wilhelm. Incumbent Levi Mead is not seeking re-election.

Election day is Nov. 3, the deadline for mail ballots to be returned to the La Plata County Clerk's Office. Ballots will be mailed to registered voters in mid-October.
