Schools, organizations can apply for gardening resources

The Garden Project of Southwest Colorado, Moniker Foundation and Paonia Soil Co. have partnered to provide a school or organization in La Plata County with nine Smart Pod gardening totes and resources to support projects for locally grown food.

Tools, supplies, support and training for growing food is included.

Qualifying recipients include La Plata County schools or organizations that provide services to under-served populations, have a 22-square-foot garden space with 6 hours of sun exposure during the day, can provide irrigation through the growing season and can attend an education session with the Garden Project and Paonia Soil in May.

Garden installations will be held in mid-May.

Application deadline is April 27.
