After reading the Herald article “Facebook suspends Powerhouse’s account” (Feb. 18), I was horrified that people would do such a thing.
The Powerhouse is our local science museum, so they clearly are focused on science, and would not purposely spread misinformation. From my understanding, the Powerhouse was (and still is) trying to help our community by raising vaccine awareness.
One of the comments was, “You don’t understand that the COVID vaccine is killing tens of thousands of kids.” After fact checking myself, I completely agree with Jeff Susor, the Powerhouse’s executive director. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only two deaths have occurred among children in the U.S. after vaccination, and both children had complicated medical histories.
The Powerhouse is only trying to spread awareness and help our community to return to normal. There was no reason to spread actual misinformation, and I am devastated to think that members of our community would do such a thing. I sincerely hope people will not do something like this in the future.
