The Board of Trustees for Fort Lewis College launched its national search for a new college president after President Dene Thomas’ announcement that she will retire in June 2018, according to a news release.
The trustees appointed a 12-person presidential search committee that includes faculty, students, administrators, staff, alumni and community members.
“I am honored to lead an incredibly diverse committee,” Trustee Richard Kaufman said in the release. “We are committed to conducting a search process that will be open, inclusive and exhaustive. We invite everyone to participate.”

The new president will be hired in the spring, and his or her term will begin July 1, 2018.
