Seeking communication on facility remodel

About a month ago, I wrote a letter to the editor concerning the untrustworthy behavior of the general services director and his associates. The issue at hand was in regards to a La Plata County facility remodel conducted without plans, permits nor inspections; a violation of all building codes by which the rest of us citizens must abide.

In that letter, I asked the commissioners to explain these unethical acts. After more than ample time, unanswered emails and no phone calls, we the taxpayers still do not have an explanation. As expected, their complete and utter silence regarding this issue speaks louder than any response they could have provided.

For whatever reasons, my attempts to reach out to the leaders of this county have fallen on deaf ears. Sadly, I apparently must resort to the Herald in my attempts to establish some semblence of communication.

What I am asking is for some type of assurance that will put an end to this behavior; what steps have been taken to prevent this? I fear these types of occurrences will continue unless some action is taken to hold those accountable that chose to abuse their authority. If they are not held accountable, then how can you expect the citizens to comply with these regulations? Surely, at a minimum an apology is in order.

While I can continue my attempts to communicate with our commissioners using the Herald’s editorial page as my medium, at the end of the day I would prefer a more appropriate platform.
