Seibel helps IHS rediscover the win column

Bobcats senior scores 25 in a strong offensive, defensive performance

Cloe Seibel’s offense and a strong defensive effort helped the Ignacio High School girls basketball team break a four-game losing streak.

Seibel scored 25 points to lead the Bobcats to a 50-37 win over Dolores on Thursday night in Ignacio.

Roshae Weaver also scored nine for IHS (3-10, 1-2 San Juan Basin League).

“We didn’t have a very good first half, but we finished the second quarter strong,” IHS head coach Shane Seibel said. “We came out in the third quarter with wonderful energy and a strong defensive performance.”

IHS won at home for the first time all season and will hit the road again for its next game Feb. 7 at Nucla.

“I felt the girls responded so well, and it will infuse some confidence,” coach Seibel said. “Frankly, we’ve been on the tough end of the wins and losses, and now we get to enjoy the payoffs.”
