Semi rollover on Colo. Highway 140

Road is not blocked

A semitrailer hauling coal rolled off Colorado Highway 140 at about 9:20 p.m. Monday.

“It rolled down a steep embankment and landed on its side on an access driveway,” said Trooper Nathan Reid with the Colorado State Patrol. “The driver is out of the cab, but there’s no information on injuries yet.”

The accident took place at 15300 Colorado Highway 140. Reid said coal had spilled on the driveway, but he didn’t know if the truck was full or not.

Tow trucks were responding about half an hour later. The highway was not blocked, but there will be significant activity along the roadway as they get the semi upright and out.

Reid said they won’t know what caused the accident until Tuesday.
