Senior Center to offer dog training on Thursdays

Caroline Murray, left, holds Opie, 3, a Chihuahua mix, as Traci Moriarty, a dog trainer and owner of Wag Between Barks, puts a collar on him during a canine social training class at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center in 2012. Moriarty will teach the class again beginning Thursday.

A four-week dog-training class, “Dog Training: Manners 2,” will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 21, at Durango Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.

Instructor Traci Moriarty will teach dogs and dog owners how to build on basic skills, such as leash skills, coming when called, staying at a distance, etc. Cost is $25.

Dogs will earn American Kennel Club “Canine Good Citizen” certificates at the end of the class.

Registration is required; to register, call Greta at 382-6428.
