Further to Hugh Brown’s letter (Herald, Oct. 17), it should be noted that this punitive tax on seniors will result in many part-time residents of Colorado adjusting the time spent in Colorado to less than six months and paying tax in another state, or even worse, leaving Colorado.
Many seniors travel extensively or live part time out of state, and losing supplemental coverage when out of state is unworkable.
The proponents of the plan claim a reimbursement scheme will be implemented, but imagine being trapped between a huge out-of-state hospital bill and a state board that doesn’t want to pay all of it.
This incidentally also applies to anyone in the Four Corners who happens to be in another state when needing hospital care.
Vote “no” on ColoradoCare.
