Several events planned for Women’s History Month in Durango

The Women’s Resource Center will host a series of events in honor of Women’s History Month.

Upcoming events include:

6 p.m. Wednesday: Five Women Wearing the Same Dress Reception & Performance at Durango Arts Center. A special benefit performance and pre-show reception include wedding cake and beverages. Guests are encouraged to wear their best or worst bridesmaid dress.

5:30 p.m. March 15: Extraordinary Women Award Dinner at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio. Each year the Women’s Resource Center honors three extraordinary women in the community. To nominate someone, visit www.wrcdurango.org or call 247-1242. The keynote speaker will be Mary Monroe Brown, executive director of Trails 2000.

5:30 p.m. March 19: Womenade Potluck at the Rochester Hotel. Participant will help a few neighbors who have fallen on hard times. Bring a potluck dish to share, a minimum donation of $35, and a friend. Participants can vote on who will receive the money; 100 percent of money raised will go directly to the local recipients.

The Women’s Resource Center is partnering with Alpine Bank, Erteszek Family Foundation, Sunshine Gardens, Coldwell Banker Heritage House Realtors, State Farm Insurance, Durango Arts Center, Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame, and other venues and organizations to produce the series of events.
