Shaw not invested in House District 59

OK class, today’s word is hubris. Hubris, boys and girls, is moving someplace new from an entirely different region and state – Texas. And then, one year later, thinking that what this place needs is me representing them, in the state Legislature. Because in the short year that I’ve been here, I’ve gained so much insight into everything about House District 59 (currently represented by Barbara McLachlan).

Since moving here and opening a B&B (that’s so cute!), I suspect the only insight Shelli Shaw has gained is that HD 59 is not represented by a far-right, Trump-won-the-last-election, the-left-staged-Jan. 6th, Trump-is-still-my-president apologist for all things ultraconservative. All things that she’d bring to the party. (My source is her Facebook page, which I was going to recommend a quick look at before she takes that stuff down, but she’s probably proud of it.) Anyway, if all of this, combined with a total lack of history in HD 59 is your jam, Shaw is your candidate.

Full disclosure: My family also came here from Texas ... in the 1880s. Doesn’t make me special. But it sure does make me much more knowledgeable about and invested in the 59th than Shaw.

I don’t want this whole thing to be negative. So, I’ve come up with a helpful slogan that Shaw can use in her campaign – “Shelli Shaw: Probably wouldn’t be quite as bad as Lauren Boebert” ... or would she?
