Shop for a cause

Thrift shopping is sustainable, but did you know that local thrift stores also help support the greater good of the Durango area? When making a purchase at a local thrift store, your money is typically used to help community charities and businesses, rather than multinational corporations and shareholders.

When shopping with First United Methodist Thrift, proceeds directly benefit local organizations, as well as supporting mission and relief efforts with local groups. Choosing to shop at La Plata County Humane Society Thrift Store, you are directly benefiting the homeless animals of La Plata County. When shopping second hand with local thrift stores, you are not only supporting these local communities and businesses, but you are also directly helping to reduce household waste and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

Whether it’d be a vintage Disneyland shirt, an old painting that could use a touch-up, a 1950s-inspired vase or a Bon Jovi album, choosing to shop at local thrift stores just might lead you to find the treasures you never knew you needed.
