An unknown person fired bullets into two homes Tuesday in a small trailer park adjacent to the Westside Mobile Park in west Durango off U.S. Highway 160.
Witnesses told law-enforcement officers they heard someone fire six shots about 11:35 p.m. at 21062 Highway 160, said Investigator Ed Phippen with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found four bullet holes in one trailer and one bullet hole in another. The police believe they are all from a semi-automatic pistol, he said.
Nine people total were staying in both trailers Tuesday night, including both residents and visitors. There were no injuries, he said.
No one in the trailer park saw the shooter or any vehicles leaving shortly after the shots were fired, he said.
So far, law enforcement doesn’t have any suspects.
“We searched the area and did not find any evidence of anybody around the area who wasn’t supposed to be there,” he said.
Four deputies and two Durango police officers responded, he said.
Deputies believe the shooter was on foot and likely ran to a vehicle nearby because no one saw a car leave on the only road in and out of the park.
Authorities do not have any information on anyone who had a problem with residents of the park, he said.
Anyone who has information about the shooting can call Phippen at 382-7058.
