Colorado Department of Transportation will conduct shoulder work Tuesday and Wednesday along U.S. Highway 550 on the north side of Red Mountain Pass.
A geotechnical engineering crew will be surveying and drilling to collect ground samples along the highway at mile markers 81 and 90.
Work hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the project is scheduled to be complete at the end of Thursday, weather permitting.
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures and 15- to 20-minute traffic stops. CDOT urges travelers follow signs and speed reductions in the work area, and be aware of flaggers, maintenance workers and heavy equipment on and near the highway.
