Lately, all I’ve been reading about is the Koch brothers and Americans for Prosperity hoodwinking dimwitted county residents into uprooting Commissioner Gwen Lachelt. Lachelt herself is fanning this flame with similar Facebook posts, and gathering at Eno cocktail lounge for the “Decline to Sign” extravaganza.
The vision that popped into my head was that of Wallachia peasants with pitchforks chasing down the bloodsucking Dracula in the 1400s. Only the 2018 peasants are a class of people always looking to save something. And instead of carrying pitchforks, they are wearing high-end performance clothing with logos of their favorite left-wing special interest groups.
The bloodsucking Dracula is in fact the common folks of La Plata County trying to suck the life out of the small community with their pro-kill-the-environment ways as written in the Herald.
Being that I was raised to base opinion on facts, I have yet to meet a right-wing special interest representative at any function I’ve attended. So I’ve concluded that this message from Lachelt that is dominating the airwaves isn’t worth a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of. The hundreds of people I’ve spoken to who have signed the recall petition are good, hardworking people trying to hang on to what is theirs and to protect what they have. They are from all walks of life and from each end of the political pendulum.
