Silverpick Lodge, Sow’s Ear property sold

The Silverpick Lodge recently changed ownership. The new owners, Jamie Matthews and his wife, Mary Clare, are from Austin, Texas, and have strong ties to Colorado, having lived and spent time in Telluride.

The couple plan to expand the wedding and family reunion offerings at the Silverpick Lodge and are partnering with a local wedding planner to execute. While the restaurant will not operate like it once did, the owners plan to offer a high-end Apres Ski experience for the Purgatory skiing community. Additionally, the Silverpick will be home to Powder Term, a three-month, skiing, leadership and education program for sixth to ninth grade students from all over the world (www.powderterm.com).

“I’m so excited to be back in the San Juan Mountains,” Jamie Mathews said in a press release. “I am also very grateful to be a small part of helping to create meaningful adventures and memories for other families ... in what I believe is one of the most strikingly beautiful areas of North America.”

Jamie and Mary Clare were drawn to what Chris Wing had built in the community – a gathering space for families, weddings and avid ski groups. They hope to build on this unique brand that Chris has shaped over the last 3 decades.
