Singers perform in Grand Junction

From left, Brittany Lane, soprano; Atlee Beam, bass; Jamie George, alto; Justin Nickerson, bass; Erin Carlson, alto; with their teacher Derek Smith, performed Nov. 9 at the Colorado Choral Directors Select Choir, held at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction. This event takes nominated singers from more than 20 choirs on the Western Slope for a day of intense rehearsals and training. It culminates in a concert with the 180-member high school choir singing along with the Grand Valley Childrens Chorale (about 50 members) and the CMU Chamber Choir (about 30 members). 'It was an outstanding day of music and fun for these great choir students,' Smith said.
