Tonight’s Singing with Santa caroling procession on Main Avenue has been moved to the La Plata County Fairgrounds as a result of snowy and rainy weather.
Santa will still make an appearance, and there will be caroling, hot chocolate and cookies, but it will be at the fairgrounds exhibition hall, according to an announcement sent Friday afternoon by Indiana Reed on behalf of the Durango Business Improvement District.
But there will be no caroling procession from TBK Bank to the community tree at 12th Street and Main Avenue. Signs will be posted at the TBK parking lot to help notify residents of the change.
Residents are asked to meet at 5:45 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
The community tree will still be lit tonight, if weather allows.
“We’re watching the weather as far as lighting the Buckley Park tree,” Reed said. “... We just won’t have the fun-filled celebration this year.”
