SJBPH to host school supply drive at local COVID-19 vaccine clinics

In recognition of National Back to School Month, San Juan Basin Public Health will host a school supply drive at select vaccine clinics in August.

Through collaboration with area schools and partner organizations, supplies will be distributed to schoolchildren in need across Archuleta and La Plata counties.

Collection boxes will be placed at select SJBPH vaccine clinics. All donations should be clean and unused.

Suggested school supplies to donate for the back-to-school drive include:

  • Backpacks.
  • Colored pencils.
  • Washable markers
  • Scissors.
  • Crayons.
  • Glue.
  • Pencils.
  • Erasers.
  • Composition notebooks.
  • Spiral notebooks.
  • Watercolors.

School supplies will be accepted at these clinics:

La Plata County
  • 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2-6 p.m. Saturdays, Old Main Post Office, 1060 Main Ave.
  • 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 19, Bayfield Block Party, Mill Street and Church Street, Bayfield.
  • 8 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, Durango Farmers Market, 259 W. Ninth St.
  • 9 a.m.-noon, Aug. 21, Forest Lakes, Alpine Forest Drive bus stop,
  • 8 a.m.-noon, Durango Flea Market, 2500 Main Ave.
Archuleta County
  • 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1st Southwest Bank, 249 Navajo Trail Drive, Pagosa Springs.
  • 3-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library, 811 San Juan St., Pagosa Springs.
  • 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays, Ross Aragon Community Center, 451 Hot Springs Blvd., Pagosa Springs.
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays and Sundays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays, East Side Market and Pagosa Farmers Market, 225 E. Pagosa St., Pagosa Springs.
