Skarda takes women’s MBS race

Durango’s Carrington finishes second
Durango’s Nathalike Krantz raced through Steamworks Brewing Company and finished 15th in the women’s pro/open category of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Mountain Bike Specialists Cross Country race Sunday in downtown Durango.

Alexis Skarda of Grand Junction sped her way to the finish line to win the Mountain Bike Specialist Cross Country mountain bike race Sunday on the second day of the 45th Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.

Dressed in her pink Stan’s No Tubes Elite Team kit, Skarda won with a time of 1 hour, 35 minutes, 40.2 seconds, nearly a full minute ahead of Durango’s Liz Carrington, who took second in 1:36:44.5.

Last year’s winner, Hannah Williams, took third in 1:37:45.0.
