Recent bouts of snow have proved bountiful for Hesperus Ski Area, which opens for the 2021-22 season at 4 p.m. Friday.
The ski area attributed the season’s start to recent snowfall.
But before people hit up the Hesperus lodge and snack bar, skiers had the chance to head up the slopes early during the free uphill community ski day that started at 8 a.m. Thursday.
Hesperus officials were trying to pack recent snowfall before Friday’s opening and sought uphill skiers for help.
Hesperus Ski Area is scheduled to be open daily starting 4 p.m. Friday. Daily ski area open hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through New Year’s Day. Days of operation change after the new year.
Hesperus Ski Area plans to offer night and day skiing from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays after New Year’s Day.
