The Aspen Skiers played keepaway from the Durango Demons on Saturday.
Aspen (3-2) defeated the Durango High School girls lacrosse team (0-4, 0-1 Southwestern League) for the second consecutive day, this time a 9-3 victory.
“It came down to possession. They had possession for between 2/3 and 3/4 of the game. With that, it was hard for us to score goals,” DHS head coach Jenni Darlow said.
DHS fell to Aspen 10-6 on Friday night, but Darlow felt her team played a more competitive game Saturday.
The score was 2-2 at halftime, but the Skiers dominated the second half.
Tymbree Hawkins, Payton Randle and Alyssa Swan scored the three goals for DHS.
“Overall, our defense did well as a whole. They just played the entire time,” Darlow said. “Tymbree caused a lot of turnovers and got a lot of groundballs at the midfield, but we never had the ball or could keep it.”
