The Fort Lewis College men’s golf team shaved off 19 strokes from their opening round of 329 to post a 310 in the second round of the 2015 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship on Monday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.
The Skyhawks are in eighth place with a team total of 639 (plus-63). Colorado School of Mines leads the 10-team field with a five-over par 581.
Michael Thomas leads the Skyhawks after two rounds with a 152 (77-75), placing him 18th overall. Mitchell Donley improved by seven strokes in the second round for a 159 (83-76) which puts him in 36th place. Dillon Washburn (83-81) and Joshua Woodworth (86-78) are tied for 40th overall at 164, and Lucas Laudick is 47th at 176 (90-86).
Colorado School of Mines’ Nick Berry shot a tournament-best 64 in the second round and leads the 50-player field with a 138 (74-64).
The third and final round will begin Tuesday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
