Skyhawk volleyball loses pair on the road

Skyhawks’ volleyball falls to 2-6 away from home

The road has been tough on the Fort Lewis College volleyball team, losing to both Black Hills State on Friday and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Saturday.

The Skyhawks started the weekend off on a sour note by losing to the Yellow Jackets of Black Hills 25-23, 25-13 and 25-23.

The Skyhawks were held to just .095 hitting percentage, which accounted for 34 kills on 148 attempts.

FLC freshman Kendra Swackenberg led the Skyhawks with 11 assists, junior Ally Dell’Amico had 33 digs and six assists and freshman Gabriella Hickman and senior Shelby Lehman both had seven kills.

In the game against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, the Skyhawks lost in four sets 25-20, 22-25, 25-19 and 25-20.

Hickman recorded a team high eight kills and added 17 digs. Junior Delaney Scanlan had 28 assists and Dell’Amico added 18 digs.

Fort Lewis College (5-16, 2-11 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) will have a chance to add a few more wins this season as it will continue on the road by traveling to Western State Colorado University next Friday, followed by Colorado State University-Pueblo.
