Featuring trips to Liberty, Missouri, and Glendale, Arizona, the 2023 Fort Lewis College football schedule has been finalized, head coach Johnny Cox announced on Monday.

Fort Lewis will open its 2023 campaign with back-to-back nonconference road trips to William Jewell College and Arizona Christian University on Sept. 2 and Sept. 9.

The season opener at William Jewell was originally scheduled for Aug. 31, but was pushed back to Saturday, Sept. 2 due to scheduling conflicts at Greene Stadium. While the Skyhawks and Cardinals will meet for the first time in program history to open the season, Week 2 will provide a chance at redemption after the ACU Firestorm downed FLC in its season opener last year.

“William Jewel is a formidable opponent,” Cox said. “If you compare the recent records of the two programs, it should be a very competitive game. Arizona Christian on the other hand, was an NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) playoff team last season. They return a lot of excellent experienced players. Last year, they were able to come into Ray Dennison Memorial Stadium and beat us soundly. We have put a lot of work into improving the program and are eager to measure our improvement against them. These are two difficult opponents that will be a great challenge as we prepare for the RMAC schedule.”

The Skyhawks' will play their home opener and the start its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule on Sept. 16, welcoming New Mexico Highlands University for a 2 p.m. kickoff.

Fans will have five home contests to enjoy this season, also including Colorado State University-Pueblo on Sept. 30, Colorado Mesa University on Oct. 14, Black Hills State University on Oct. 28 and reigning the national-runner up Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 11. Those four home games are scheduled to kick off at noon.

Fort Lewis will also celebrate homecoming on Oct. 11 while its Nov. 11 game will be the team’s Senior Day.

Fort Lewis will also make trips to Adams State University on Sept. 23, Chadron State College on Oct. 7, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology on Oct. 21, and Western Colorado University on Nov. 4.

All of Fort Lewis’ games will be streamed live on the RMAC Network with the exception of William Jewell and Arizona Christian. Those two games will be streamed on both school's home networks.
