Three members of the Fort Lewis College football team, Dylan Holt, Ryan Barkley and Zach Russell, earned All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors, the league announced Thursday.

“I'm excited for all three of these guys,” Fort Lewis College head coach Johnny Cox said. “Each one of them is a great football player and deserves this recognition from the RMAC. Although it was just one season, it was a pleasure to coach each one of them and I know they'll be very successful in future endeavors.”

Russell, a redshirt senior from Sante Fe, led Fort Lewis with three receiving touchdowns this season. The 6-foot-4 tight end hauled in 25 receptions for a total of 288 yards.

Barkley, a redshirt senior from Durango, was the leader on the offensive line for the Skyhawks. The four-year veteran started all 10 games and played nearly every snap at left tackle.

Holt, a 6-foot-2 junior from Denver, secured 22 receptions for 226 yards this season and an average of 10.27 yards per catch.

Volleyball players honored

FLC volleyball had two players get recognized. Sophomore Alexis Hobie and freshman Ella Butler were named to the All-RMAC teams, with Hobie earning Second-Team honors and Butler earning Honorable Mention nods.

“The conference is packed with so many talented athletes, and to have a pair of Fort Lewis players make the All-RMAC team is very exciting for our program,” said head coach Giedre Tarnauskaite.

Hobie was an All-RMAC Honorable Mention as a freshman, but stepped up even more during her sophomore campaign. The Eugene, Oregon, native led the team with 270 kills and eight double-doubles.

Butler, a true freshman out of Arizona, burst onto the scene as a lethal server. Poised and controlled at the line, she dropped in 38 service aces this season while committing just 17 errors.

Rylee Johnson, Kamryn Lopez, and Joviana Romero and sophomore Korrina Pace meanwhile, represented FLC volleyball on the RMAC academic teams.

Women’s soccer lands three

Three student-athletes on the FLC women’s soccer team were named to the All-RMAC teams.

Making the Honorable Mention list for the second consecutive season was senior Madyson Barela. The Rio Rancho, New Mexico, player tied for the team lead with four goals on the year – all in RMAC play.

“Madyson finished her career strong with a couple of goals toward the end which came in key moments for this team,” said head coach Damian Clarke. “She has grown into a kid that we could depend on in the moments when we needed a goal, and that speaks to her leadership.”

Barela played in 17 games this season, starting in 11. She ends her career in sky blue having played in 52 matches and over 3,000 minutes, scoring 13 career goals, three of which were game-winners, to go along with two assists.

Sophomore Elizabeth David joins Barela on the Honorable Mention list for her second career All-RMAC award. She was a workhorse for the Skyhawks, starting in all 19 matches and leading the team in minutes (1,627). In addition to her defensive play, the sophomore netted one goal from distance and put 13 shots on frame to challenge the opposition in key moments.

Sabrina Reyes treated fans to even more crafty play in her second year on the pitch – earning her Honorable Mention accolades. She ranked second on the team with three goals and started 17 matches.

Representing the Skyhawks on the RMAC Honor Roll were seniors Barela, Katie Dunbabin, and Meredith Satre and sophomores Riley Bravin and Gaby Meraz-Fishbein.

Three men’s soccer players recognized

Three FLC men’s soccer players were also recognized by the league and earned honorable mentions for their play. Isaac Garro, Loic Jean-Baptiste and Maximilian Meier were all honored.

For the third straight year, Andres Hernandez nabbed Honor Roll honors, while Gabriel Legendre and Jakob Maurek earned their second straight and Brenden Oberg and Ismael Hernandez earned their first honors.

Kot gets recognized

Junior guard Akuel Kot, meanwhile, started the winter season strong for FLC. Kot was named the first RMAC men's basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the 2022-23 season after back-to-back 20-point performances to open the season last week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
