Peter Byrne has made a name for himself early in his Fort Lewis College soccer career.
The freshman goalkeeper from Missoula, Montana, picked up his second consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week award Tuesday.
Byrne had a .846 save percentage last week with a 2-1 win against Westminster College and a 1-1 draw against No. 11 Colorado Mesa. He made six saves against Westminster and five against the Mavericks as he allowed only a penalty kick goal to Mesa around several big-time stops.
FLC is now 2-2-4, and Byrne has played every game in goal.
The Fort Lewis College women’s golf team finished last out of 17 teams at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
Isabella Martinez and Summer Vigil led the FLC with matching two-round totals of 161. That tied them for 44th overall. Sophie Schwartz shot 164 to finish tied for 54th, while Kara Tschirhart shot 187 to finish 85th. Sabrina Scaccia shot 195 to finish 88th.
FLC shot 673 as a team. The winning score was 605 from California State University-San Marcos. Caroline Ordian of Redlands was the individual winner with a score of 144 after consecutive rounds of 72.
The final fall tournament for the FLC women will be held Oct. 30-31 at Cal State-San Marcos.
