The Fort Lewis College women’s track and field team finished the season by placing 11th at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships during the weekend in Golden.
The Skyhawks recorded 10 points at the meet.
New Mexico Highlands won the women’s title, the program’s second RMAC title in four seasons, with 152 points. University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was second with 127 points, followed by Colorado School of Mines in third with 106 points.
Highlands’ Taneika Elliston earned athlete of the meet honors after she compiled 26 points for the Cowgirls.
FLC got the bulk of its points in the 10,000 meters.
Rebecca Bramley accounted for five of the Skyhawks’ points after she placed fourth in the 10K with a time of 39 minutes, 24.09 seconds, and Erin Renner placed sixth with a time of 39:42.30 for three points.
Emma Alaimo placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 6 inches, which earned her the other two points for FLC.
The Skyhawks also set a new program record in the 4x400 relay, as the team of Alaimo, Quinlyn Borneo, Sarah Chacon and Taylor Sargent finished the event in 4:04.33, which was good for ninth place.
“The 4x400m relay team ran tough and improved all season,” FLC head coach Joshua Coon said in a news release. “They are a quality group and will make their mark in future years.”
The FLC women’s lacrosse team landed commitments from three incoming freshmen.
A duo from Eagle, Jillian Bryon and Haley Carpenter, and JoJo Lutz of Beaverton, Oregon, inked National Letters of Intent to play for the Skyhawks next season.
Bryon has been a four-year starter for Eagle Valley High School and has netted 41 goals during her high school career.
Carpenter, another four-year player at Eagle Valley, is a three-time all-conference performer and has scored 83 career goals for the Devils.
In Oregon, Lutz earned all-metro and all-conference honors at Beaverton High School. Statistics for Lutz were not available.
FLC will open play in the RMAC Tournament as the fourth-seed Thursday against No. 5 Westminster College at 1 p.m. Thursday in Denver.
Three new Skyhawks will join the FLC men’s golf team in the fall after the program announced the signings of Jack Call, Darren Edwards and Cristoffer Rudosky.
Call comes to FLC from Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson, Arizona. He tied for 16th at the Division II State Championship in October and helped Canyon Del Oro to a fifth place finish as a team.
Edwards, from Thompson Valley High School in Loveland, won the 2017 Class 4A state title during the fall. He was a four-year varsity player and earned all-conference honors each season at Thompson Valley.
Rudosky comes from nearby Dolores and competed for the Montezuma-Cortez High School golf team. He tied for fourth at the Class 3A state tournament during the fall season and was named the Intermountain League’s most valuable player.
The women’s golf team at FLC landed two new players with the signings of Hannah Jacks and Emilia Manntz.
Jacks, from Claremore, Oklahoma, was a four-year varsity player at Sequoyah High School, where she will graduate as valedictorian this spring.
Manntz comes to FLC by way of Stockholm, where she will graduated from Blackebergs Gymnasium.
