Fort Lewis’ softball team hit the road to play CSU-Pueblo, and the ThunderWolves got the best of the Skyhawks
The ThunderWolves (19-25, 16-20 RMAC) scored 11 runs in three of the four games en route to a two-day series sweep. CSU-Pueblo won Saturday’s games 11-4 and 11-10 before taking Sunday’s doubleheader from FLC (6-39, 5-31 RMAC) 11-3 and 7-4.

Angelique Elemen hit a two-run home run and Tristen Gilbert was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored in the loss.
The second game of the day was getting out of hand as CSU-Pueblo led 7-1 after three innings. FLC showed a lot of heart and nearly pulled off a great comeback. Fort Lewis scored nine runs in the final three innings, but came up short 11-10. Elemen had another fine day at the dish going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Adriana Rosthenhausler was 4-for-5 and drive in two runs in game two.

They couldn’t hold the lead, though, as the ThunderWolves tied the game in the third and ended it in the fifth. CSU-Pueblo’s K’Lee Kent capped off an eight-run fifth with a grand slam that gave the ThunderWolves an 11-3 lead and ended the game early.
Gilbert was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Rosthenhausler, Allison Young and Lauren Caldwell each had two hits in the loss.
The series finale was more of the same as a six-run fifth inning doomed the Skyhawks again. Elemen and Gilbert hit back-to-back home runs in a three-run sixth inning, but FLC came up short in the end 7-4.
The Skyhawks will try to end the season on a positive note at 1 p.m. Saturday as they begin a four-game set against Chadron State at Aztec Tiger Sports Complex in Aztec, New Mexico.
