Fort Lewis College already had eight recruits in the Class of 2014.
Damian Clarke is pretty excited by the ninth, Colorado Springs native and attacking forward/midfielder Kyra Darr.
“Kyra is a fantastic late signee,” the Skyhawks’ women’s soccer head coach said in a news release to The Durango Herald.
Darr has friends in this recruiting class, too.
Savannah Boarman, Miranda Brown and Kyleigh Wierenga all are fellow Pride Predators from the Front Range, the recruits’ club team. Boarman and Darr were teammates at Cheyenne Mountain, too.
“We hope adding this familiarity will pay off quickly with such a young team in 2014,” Clarke said. “Kyra is an attacking-minded player who could be in the midfield or possibly in a striker’s role. She is a player with great technique and fits into our efforts to possess and be aggressive in the attack.”
Boarman and Darr led Cheyenne Mountain to the 2013 state championship.
Darr joins defense/midfielder Boarman from Colorado Springs; defender Brown from Monument; forward/midfielder Angelica Duckworth; defender Morgan Honza; forward/midfielder Alicia Sanchez from Albuquerque; forward/midfielder Jessica Singleton from Hobbs, N.M.; midfielder Andra Thaden from Westminster; and defense/midfielder Wierenga from Colorado Springs.
