I’m delighted that both Sweetie Marbury and Dick White are running again for City Council.
White cares about Durango and wants to make sure it remains the great small city it is.
A recent letter to the editor mocked him for his commitment to sustainability, and all I can say is: Do you really want our city to grow unsustainably? White knows that clean air, clean water and a healthy environment are important to keep Durango a pleasant place to live. He’s a smart guy, and he evaluates issues from a logical perspective with a clear head, even when tempers are hot.
Marbury also cares about Durango, and her passion is evident in everything she does. She is proactive about engaging with residents on the issues that affect them and is willing to go to the mat for what she believes is right. Even when she disagrees with someone, she always is courteous and respectful.
Of course, White has a heart, too, and Marbury’s got smarts, as well, but to me, these are the qualities that come to mind first when I think of these two wonderful people. To properly function, a person needs both logic and love, both head and heart. So, too, does a city – so, too, does our City Council. Please vote for Marbury’s heart and White’s brains – and for all the rest of their body parts, too!
