Snow is expected to return this week to the high country of the San Juan Mountains.
Megan Stackhouse, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, said a cold front is moving into Southwest Colorado on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
With it, the chance of precipitation, she said.
Elevations above 9,000 feet have a chance of snow through Wednesday evening, with snow totals anywhere between 3 to 6 inches, Stackhouse said.
The storm also carries the chance of thunder, as well as winds up to 15 mph. Overnight lows in Silverton are expected to dip from 30 degrees Monday night to 18 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
The chill will also be felt in Durango. The daytime high is expected to reach 60 degrees Tuesday, but temperatures will dip into the low 50s on Wednesday and around 26 degrees overnight.
Durango has a 40 percent chance of scattered showers until Tuesday night, Stackhouse said. It is possible some snow will fall in town, but nothing more than a tenth or two-tenths of an inch.
Sunny skies are expected to return in time for the weekend, with highs near 60 degrees.
