A spring-like storm left about a half-inch of snow in Durango early Monday and up to 10 inches in parts of the San Juan Mountains, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
A weather advisory remains in effect until Monday evening, although the storm is expected to move out of the region Tuesday, depositing only 2-3 more inches in the high country, said Chris Cuoco, forecaster with the Weather Service.
The storm left varying amounts of snow across the region. As of 7 a.m. Monday, snow totals included 6 inches on Molas Pass, 7 inches at Mineral Creek, 3 inches on Lizard Head Pass, 4 inches on Red Mountain Pass, 5 inches on Lone Cone, 3½ inches at Telluride, and 10 inches on top of Spud Mountain. Purgatory Resort was reporting 5 inches of new snow as of 5 a.m., and Wolf Creek ski area also reported 5 inches.
A mix of snow and rain in the lower valleys is expected Monday afternoon.
Scattered showers are expected Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly over the mountains. Dry and warming temperatures move into the region Thursday through Saturday with another chance of showers arriving Sunday.
