Snowdown announces parking and transportation information

A Rockin’ Snowdown 2020 Light Parade will begin at about 6 p.m. or dusk Friday on Main Avenue.

No parking along the parade route and staging areas will take effect and be enforced Friday afternoon, with clearly marked signage. All traffic along the parade route will be detoured with street closures on Fifth Street from Main Avenue to Park Elementary School. Traffic along the parade route on Main Avenue, from Fifth Street to 13th Street will not be permitted. All vehicles parked in private lots adjacent to street closures should move before the street closures.

To ease congestion and assist with transportation, Snowdown has partnered with Ride Responsible, the city of Durango and the Business Improvement District to provide free alternate parking options, with free city buses running all day Friday. Two special Park and Ride shuttles will run from about 3 to 9 p.m., one from the Fairgrounds to the Transit Center about every 20 minutes, and one from Three Springs to the Transit Center about every 45 minutes. There will be two pick up/drop off locations in Three Springs: Digs Restaurant and the main entrance to the Mercy Regional Medical Center.
