Snowdown is now complete, so what’s next?
I personally loved Snowdown this year! I scored Follies and Fashion Do’s and Don’ts tickets. I watched the Light Parade and produced the livestream of it. I participated in Outlaw Josie Pete’s Snowdown Golf. My wife played in the Not a Tournament Mah Jongg Tournament. Plus many other fun times. Kudos to the Snowdown team for once again making it happen.
By the way, the theme for 2027 Snowdown is “Chillin’ With My Villains” and the dates are Jan. 29 to Feb. 7. Starting planning your 2027 Snowdown costume now – Darth Vader anyone? Maybe The Joker? How about Dracula or Hannibal Lecter? Anyone remember Hans Gruber or Ivan Drago? It’s going to be a good one!
So what do we do now that our winter carnival is over? Well, there are plenty of things coming up to look forward to as we ease into spring. The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College has great acts and performance lined up. The San Juan Symphony performs on Feb. 21. International Guitar Night XXVI is on Feb. 26 and features four world class artists who will wow you with their virtuosity and storytelling. The San Juan Citizens Alliance once again brings the Banff Mountain Film Festival to the Concert Hall on March 6 and 7. The Durango Celtic Festival takes over on March 27 and 28. Head to to DurangoConcerts.com for tickets to these events and more.
Speaking of the Concert Hall, be sure to get your tickets to Southwest Colorado Rocks for February 19. The annual business awards event from the Durango Chamber of Commerce is always fun and will remind you of what makes our part of the state so amazing. Visit DurangoBusiness.org to get your tickets today.
The Durango Independent Film Festival takes over movie screens March 4 to 8. Our local film festival turns 21 this year. You can buy your passes right now and learn all about this year’s event at DurangoFilm.org.
In April it is the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown’s turn to take over stages! From April 10 to 12, you can enjoy world class musicians, such as Shelby Means, Lonesome Ace Stringband, Michael Prewitt and CrunchGrass Supreme, and many more including local artists. Get your tickets for the 30th annual Durango Bluegrass Meltdown at DurangoMeltdown.com.
The Durango Wine Experience wraps up April with its annual wine tasting events. Held on April 24 and 25, the Wine Experience is an amazing time for an amazing cause – the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado.
Also in May is the iAM MUSIC FEST April 30 to May 3, the first Durango Farmers Market of the season on May 9, and of course the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic over Memorial Day weekend.
You can find information about all these events and many others at DowntownDurango.org/events. Thank you to our event calendar partner, WhatsHappeningDurango.com.
I look forward to seeing you around town this spring!
