Snowstorm causes damage, electrical outages in Pueblo area

PEUBLO, Colo. (AP) – Barely a month after a severe windstorm swept through southeast Colorado and caused about $1 million in damage in the Pueblo area, the area is again cleaning up storm damage.

A spring snowstorm over the weekend dumped as much as 2 feet of snow in some areas of Pueblo and interrupted power to more than 9,000 homes.

The Pueblo Chieftan reports (http://bit.ly/2pLCAnh ) that heavy, wet snow caused widespread damage across town, as tree branches snapped under the weight of the snow, colliding with cars, homes and power lines.

The National Weather Service reported as much as 24 inches in some parts of Pueblo County, while the majority of the city saw totals between 6 and 9 inches.

Black Hills Energy had restored power to most homes by Sunday morning.
