Soil health workshop to include free analysis

The first 80 people to register for a workshop on soil health can receive a free soil analysis.

The Animas Watershed Partnership is presenting a workshop on soil health from noon to 5 p.m. March 17 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.

Experts will discuss general soil health, pasture management and management of irrigation water.

A free soil analysis is available to the first 80 people to register. Jon Scott, outreach coordinator with the Animas Watershed Partnership, can explain how to collect and submit samples.

Samples must be submitted by March 2.

An identical workshop will be presented from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18 at the Farmington Civic Center.

The workshop is done with the help of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the La Plata Conservation District and the San Juan Soil and Water Conservation District.
