Some doctors still advocate low-fat diet

More fat in your diet – quell horreur!

As you might guess, not everyone is on board with the change in the health care community’s attitude towards fat. Some doctors still believe a low-fat diet minimizing saturated fats like red meat, pork and butter and keeping all fats to less than 20 percent of your diet is the healthiest option.

“The medical community doesn’t want to accept that what they’ve been telling people is completely wrong,” said one health care professional who asked not to be named because it’s such a contentious issue. “Just try to convince them otherwise. It’s a tough row to hoe.”

Eat good meats and good fats, avoid artificial and synthesized fats and exercise – and voila, you’ll be a lot healthier than if you’re worried about every pat of butter you put on your potato, he said.
