Southwest Civic Winds, in conjunction with area high school students, will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday for a special Veterans Day concert at Bayfield High School.
"We're really excited about performing in your beautiful auditorim," said Paul Boyer, a musician in the group.
The program includes: American the Beautiful, American Overture for Band, Elegy for a Young American, Hail to the Fleet, Marching Song, and Stars and Stripes Forever. Just for something different, In the Bleak Midwinter, by Gustav Holst, and the Florentiner March by Julius Fucik will round out the evening's performance.
The group also will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Piedra Vista High School in Farmington.
Southwest Civic Winds was founded in 2012. Today the group has grown to become 57-member band composed of brass, woodwind, and percussion players.
Mark Walters is the conductor and has served as the director of bands at Fort Lewis College since 1996. Before coming to Fort Lewis College, he had an extensive career in public school instrumental programs.
Admission is only $5 at the door.
"We try to keep it cheap!" Boyer said.
