Southwest Civic Winds will present a musical salute to America’s veterans with guest conductor Dr. Thomas O’Neal from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Bayfield Performing Arts Center, 800 County Road 501.
Celebrating the American spirit and heritage on Veterans Day weekend, the band will premiere Thomas Root’s Hovenweep with native flutist Jessica Peterson and feature Frank Ticheli’s Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs. Underscoring the concert theme will be Robert Bennett’s classic Symphonic Songs for Band and a musical salute to America’s veterans.
The Bayfield American Legion Post 143 will perform a color guard at the beginning of the concert, and there will be video oral histories of local veterans playing in the lobby throughout the event.
Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. The concert is coordinated in partnership with Pine River Arts, a local nonprofit devoted to supporting and promoting arts and culture in the Pine River Valley.
