Southwest Homeshare Program interest meeting to be held

Area housing experts have said innovative and creative solutions are key to solving the Durango and La Plata County housing shortage. Durango resident Liza Tregillus says she has a novel tool for the community’s kit. She is hosting two upcoming public information sessions about Homeshareonline, an app for people seeking housemates.

The first of two meetings will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. The second meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. July 16.

Tregillus will discuss what she’s dubbed the Southwest Homeshare Program, which uses a nonprofit-developed app to match renters with homeowners looking for housemates. The digital infrastructure is in place, but local homeowners lack a presence on the app. She is looking to spread the word to increase participation.
